Meet The Senior Pastor




Reverend Ricky Wayne Georgetown,

a native of Plaquemine, Louisiana, is the youngest of ten children born to Isabella Simon-Georgetown and the late Aaron Georgetown Sr.

Ricky holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master's of Arts in Clinical Sociology from Texas Southern University, in Houston, Texas, where he served as drummajor of the Internationally Famous “Ocean of Soul” Marching Band. He is also a graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary (Chicago, Illinois), with the Master's of Divinity Degree. While at McCormick Seminary, Ricky was the moderator for the Pan-African Student Association and the winner of the Ellen and James Taylor Preaching Award (which is the highest preaching award given to a Seminarian). Additionally, he is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.

Prior to moving back to Houston, he served as the Pastor of Broadway (100% white congregation) and Christ the Carpenter (multi-racial congregation) United Methodist Churches in Rockford, Illinois. Most recently, Ricky served as the Associate Pastor of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church, where he strengthened the Young Adult Ministry and served as the Chairperson of the Sunnyside Community Development Corporation, a 501C (3) nonprofit organization. Ricky is an Ordained Elder in The Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and serves on various conference committees. Ricky’s desire is to lead Riverside United Methodist Church to be the church that is community conscious and action oriented. Ricky is the proud father of one daughter, Lorielle Simone Georgetown; and he is also a man who is committed to God, the church, his family, and the community.
